Toronto Asterisk Users Group

Our mission is to promote the use and success of open source telephony. While we are centred in the Greater Toronto Area, we welcome members, guests and participants from anywhere. The only requirement is an enthusiasm for open source telephony!

Founded in November of 2004, the Toronto Asterisk Users’ Group (TAUG – pronounced “tog”), was started as a result of a posting Jim Van Meggelen made on the Asterisk Users list, wanting to know whether anyone in the Toronto area wanted to have a social gathering of Toronto-area Asterisk fans. Within moments, Shidan Gouran organized a meetup group site, and presto, TAUG was born.

From those humble beginnings (we had over 20 people show up to out first event), we grew to over 100 members within half a year.

Moving forward, TAUG is building a user group that is more than just social gatherings: we sponsor and organize various talks, seminars and events that help to promote Asterisk, and assist people in understanding it.

Welcome to TAUG!
